Hi -

It's been a while since I've been here, but it's getting to be that time that my wife and I need to file to get the conditions lifted off her green card.

In section 7.9 of the FAQ it refers to, after approval, having to go back to a USCIS office with photos, etc., as part of the process to get a new green card without conditions.

Is that now out-of-date, given the new way USCIS handles biometrics? Now, if you're approved, you just get the new card in the mail, right? With the photo and fingerprint you provided at your biometrics appointment?

UpNorthGuy, I guess like me, everyone wanted to be absolutely sure they were certain of the answer and didn't want to give you the wrong answer, ya know?

I myself, applied back in December, and at that point I still had to send in passport photos. From my understanding, tho I'm not certain, I don't think the photos are requested any longer.

Have you done a search for anything like "photos for I-751" or summat in this forum by any chance?

I suggest you read the I-751.First page under the section biometrics,..

It actually states there not to send photos anymore, becasue they take them , along with fingerprints etc.

2. Biometric Services.

Applicants will now have their photograph, fingerprints andsignature taken by USCIS. When you file Form I-751, USCIS will notify you in writing of the date, time and location whereyou must go for the required biometric services. Failure to appear for the biometric services may result in a denial of your application.NOTE: Because USCIS is now taking photographs of applicants, you no longer need to submit two passport-stylephotos with your petition.

Also,..take the time to read the USCIS website. It often has news releases and change of policy etc...which is released as a news release under the press room link, on their page.

read This.

hope that clears that up for you...

Take the time to do a lil research,..you never know what your going to find,..

UpNorthGuy,

That section of the FAQ is getting a bit old - look at the dates mentioned. As Jodee suggests, look at the USCIS web site to find the most up to date official information, and pay attention to the posts here on VJ for people's recent experiences to see how that USCIS information is playing out in practice. Sometimes the information on the USCIS web site can be ahead of or behind what's happening at the USCIS facilities.

Yes, the Green Card is now made using the photo and fingerprint taken at the biometrics appointment.
