Hi there! So this is my situation; I'm an American-born US citizen. I've been living abroad in Australia for 4 years, and am married to an Australian citizen (though we married in America, if that makes any difference). We want to move back to the US next year permanently. We're currently at the very beginning of the process and are trying to look at all the steps and understand what needs to be done. I understand that I will need to prove domicile, which I plan on doing by applying for jobs in the US, looking for houses, opening a bank account, I've been paying my taxes, etc. etc. One thing we've realized though, is that we won't have the assets to satisfy the income requirements, and I don't plan on separating from my husband for the time it takes to get a job and try to satisfy the income requirements on my own. Because of that, we've decided to go the route of having a co-sponsor for the financial aspect.

I'm a bit confused as to what the requirements will need to be for our co-sponsor. My best friend has already offered to do so, but we want to make sure he makes enough money. He lives in a household with one other person. So when it comes to the requirements, does he need to have enough to cover three people (him, his partner, and my husband) or do I have to be included on this too? He's not technically sponsoring me, as I'm already an American citizen, so is he just sponsoring my spouse? Who all needs to be included in the household for the form? That's the one that's confusing me a bit.

If anyone can explain all this to me very basically, that'd be greatly appreciated! <3
