Hello, I am new to this forum but I am finding it really helpful! Thank you everyone for your posts and updates!

I applied for my husband back in August and got our first NOA with a pd of August 25th 2016.

In the other threads I have noticed that most people have joint bank accounts etc, to prove that thier marriage is bonafide. I didn't think of doing that as we have been married for a little over a year and i am living in the US while my husband is still in UAE. In Oct we had our first child. I did include a letter from my doctor stating that I am pregnant, and I now have our child's birth certificate. Do I have to wait until they ask for it to submit it? Or can I submit it now? Also would that be enough to determine that this marriage is legitimate?

Another thing that I am worried about is that I do not have a job and neither does my husband , my mom is supporting us for now so can she submit an affidavit of support showing that she will be able to support my husband when he comes here?

Just want to make sure I am doing everything correctly!

Thanks again!

If you've already submitted your I-130 application, sending in anything now is a total waste of time. There's absolutely no guarantee it'll be attached to your application. At this point, you should hold on to any additional evidence for a bonafide marriage (i.e., your child's birth certificate) and ONLY send it if you're (i) responding to an RFE (i.e., they ask for additional information) or (ii) send it with the IV package at the NVC stage.

Is the ONLY proof you sent a letter from your doctor stating that your wife is pregnant? If so, I would say this is probably not enough. Your wife being pregnant is just proof that she's fertile, not that you have a bonafide marriage. I understand that your marriage is new and having things like a joint bank account is difficult. However, you can and should have sent in evidence of having met in person and any evidence of on-going communication. If you haven't already sent this in, start to gather this evidence and send it when they either ask for it or at the NVC stage.

Yes she can. She will however have to make enough to support a total of at least 3 dependents (you, your wife, and herself) plus anyone else living in her household. Make sure she makes enough to support your proposed household size.

Thanks so much for your reply! I'll start collecting anything else that can prove our marriage. I do have plane tickets for when I went to visit him and we have a ton of photos together that I can print out and submit if they ask as well!

So they won't deny the application right away right? They will first ask for more evidence and anything else they need? I wish I would have submitted other evidence with the application however the lawyer we consulted said it wasn't necessary at the time and to wait until they ask for it :(.

Chin up NimZz! They will almost never deny an application right away and if they feel the evidence is insufficient they will ask for more! Every application is adjudicated differently, and there have been many applications I've read about here on VisaJourney with little evidence which have been approved. All you can do NOW is to start compiling additional evidence and get it ready to submit. This way IF you get a request for additional information you'll be able to respond quickly. Don't get worried, get prepared!

Update on information being posted by USCIS - expect some change

On January 5, 2017, USCIS announced that it will post processing times using a specific date format rather than weeks or months, and that this is the “first step in providing processing times that are timelier and easier to understand.”  (See below for a copy of the USCIS announcement.)

For many years, the Ombudsman has urged USCIS to explore new approaches to calculating case processing times that more accurately convey to individuals and employers how long a case will take to be adjudicated and where the case is within the processing queue.  https://www.dhs.gov/news/2017/01/17/uscis-announces-new-approach-posting-processing-times

IT WILL NOT SPEED ANYTHING UP ......... Wait patiently,,,,

I am engaged fully in my new hobbies:

watching paint dry

waiting for the flowers to grow and bloom

sitting looking at the sky looking for the cloud which will always stay above my head.

and more.

Project completed .... saving DVD collection to hard drive to have something to entertain me when I arrive.

Next part of the plan depends on your feedback or improved suggestion whilst we all wait.

what do you think? Miss the the embassy interview after the acceptance of the i-130 by shipping myself aka "Paddington Bear style" to New York harbour. On arrival then claim the historic migrant right to be allowed in because so many before entered the USA that way?

I could then watch the movies as I await arriving in port and can munch my marmalade sandwiches as I go across the sea......
