Honolulu Specific Question About Scheduling Dates

Hi Everyone,

I realize that this is a question that probably has no clear answer, but here goes:

Joan is ready and eligible to apply for her naturalization. We are in Honolulu which is a relatively small field office. The problem is Joan's work and school schedule: she only has Wednesdays off. Obviously she would miss school for her biometrics and especially her interview, but we would like to avoid that. Would there be any value in sending a note with the application explaining her schedule and requesting Wednesday appointments, or would that pretty much be a waste of time? Has anyone had any luck walking in for biometrics early (once scheduled) in Honolulu?

I have yet to hear of any applicant succesfully requesting a date.

Yeah...I sort of figured that! Couldn't hurt to ask here though. Perhaps she can walk in for biometrics early if her date is not on a Wednesday...

UPDATE: USCIS ignored the request for a Wednesday biometrics appointment (as expected---but the answer is always 'no' if you don't ask). She has a class project due on the date they gave us next week, so we did a walk-in today. The first guard did not think walk-ins were allowed (maybe he was new?), but the second guard (the main screener monitoring the x-ray machine) let her in. I went back downstairs to sit in the lobby because no one else is allowed in for biometrics appointments. Joan came down less than 1/2 hour later with the biometrics complete! By the way, they are using a new system for biometrics. I'm not sure what the differences are, but Joan felt that is was more efficient. Next step: Naturalization interview!

Oh, thanks to the person (sorry, not sure who) who posted in another thread that the photo taken at biometrics would be the one on the certificate...Joan looked great today! (OK, I'm a little biased!) Mahalo everyone!
