Why did we get a RFE? And how quick a dispostion of our case after RFE?

Our case has pending for awhile (our NOA was Mid March). We received an RFE asking for evidence that I paid taxes for the 2015 tax year even though I already provided my taxes from 2014 (my 2015 taxes were not completed by our NOA date).

Why did we receive a RFE for stuff we could not possibly have at the time of our AOS filing?

I also just responded to the RFE with my IRS Account and Tax Return Transcripts. How quick will they process and dispose of our application?

I am not sure about the turn around time, but the reason they might have requested your 2015 taxes is to see if you:

a) Ended up filing it

b) Filed it jointly (with your spouse)

c) To verify your income for 2015

c) or just because they can...

Your 2014 taxes, were they filed jointly?

We were married earlier this year so I was a single filer for both 2014 and 2015.

It's possible that they assumed since you filed AOS in March that you had done your taxes since they were due April 15th, that or since they finally seemed to have touched your case they figure you have the information by now and want it.

Sending them your 2015 tax info should clear it up, and I've seen people have their cases continue on after RFE's have been sent within a couple of weeks, others, within a couple of months.

Whatever the reason might be, if you have submitted what they asked for you should be good to go. Try not to stress out too much :)
