I've been hearing stories that people with Green cards are getting interviewed by the CBD, and I wonder why's that? Two of my friends with their husbands were interviewed one in DC one in Chicago. Is that a new thing? Tell me your experience. My maiden name is on my passport but married name on my green card.

We flew to and from the Philippines this summer with Joan's permanent green card. No issues. I did find it interesting that Joan was fingerprinted at the Honolulu Immigration station, but obviously her prints matched what was on file and we were on our way after about 5 minutes of pleasant idle chitchat. Bring a copy of your marriage certificate in case you have any trouble with the name differences in your documents. Good luck.

We just came through CBP in Detroit yesterday coming back from Russia via Beijing. My wife and I went through the electronic kiosk, and she had her fingerprints as usual, then we saw the officer at the first station and he asked us a few simple questions, and for some reason her fingerprints had to be redone, but beyond that, we just headed for the luggage carousel. No secondary, or no interview. We also always carry a copy of the marriage certificate, but have yet to be asked to show it even though her GC name does not match her passport. Where were your friends coming from?

I flew into Dulles that has kiosks where you scan your Green Card. Only reason I had to talk to CBP was because I brought food. Only thing she asked was what kind of food I brought, where I had been and for how long then she said welcome back and that was it. I don't think interviews are a new thing.

My wife and I just came back from Kazakhstan via Frankfurt into Denver. At Denver, they herd you to the APC kiosks. I had issues with scanning my passport, but finally got it scanned, but my wife's GC would not scan. So I had the print out for myself, but not for my wife. A note to everybody here: if you do not complete the electronic Customs Declaration form you MUST do the paper version even if the other family member has already done the electronic version. We had to go back and do the paper form which added about 5 minutes to our wait. Other than that little issue it was very easy--my wife's GC and passport are in her surname as she is not going to change her last name. They had my wife do the whole finger print scan again--right hand all index fingers, right thumb, left hand all index fingers, left thumb--stamped passport and we were off to wait for our luggage. Entire process took about an hour.
