Well it is real now. Guiying has her visa in her hand and we have booked her flight to Seattle on September 2. Once we got to the Consulate interview stage, everything seemed to go pretty fast and the visa arrived 5 days after her interview. We are both so happy. Hard to believe that we are finally through this process after months of waiting, but all good things happen to those who wait.

So I am busy preparing the house for her and she is busy doing some last minute shopping and saying goodbye to friends and family. It is a very happy and emotional time for both of us, but we finally made it!!

Harold,

i wrote a quick review in the review section of the Consulate forums. In general it went pretty much as expected, very short. Reading on VJ helped us to prepare for what would be asked but not for the woman that did the interview, she was very serious. Guiying has kept commenting how she just stared at her the whole time. But in the end it was fine and we got the result we were hoping for.

CONGRATULATIONS !!!

My wife and stepson mentioned the same comment about their K1/K2 interview at the GUZ consulate. My stepson commented that the CO "pretended" to be typing into his computer after asking a question. However, he claimed that the CO was intently watching their body language, including facial expressions and eye movements.

Hope that your fiancee has a safe trip to Seattle.

When and Do they ask for mailing address for the K1 visa?

I didn't put the chinese address for my fiancee. However, I notice when I mail her something, someone would manually write his chinese address too before it gets to her.

Hi James,

When you fill out the profile on the CGI Stanley page (UStraveldocs) to make your interview appointment, you will fill in your Fiance's address where you want the visa delivered, and her telephone number. Be sure to put the address in Chinese as the drivers cannot translate English and it can cause some confusion. We had to have Guiying type the address on her computer as I don't have Chinese characters on mine and don't speak Chinese anyway. Also you might want to check the box for expedited delivery when you are doing this part. This is what we did and the documents were delivered in one day on a Saturday with the driver calling her phone to tell her he was going to deliver them. This way there is no chance that there won't be someone home to take delivery.

Good luck with your journey.

Thanks Steve.

My case show in update today. However, the status only shows up under immigrant visa even though this is a K1 visa non-immigrant. Is this normal? No e-mails from NVC yet. I didn't put the chinese mailing address in the I-129F so hopefully they will translate it before sending out packet 3.

AFAIK it is normal for it to show up under immigrant visa. Ours does. (We are going through Guangzhou).

Hi James,

When I submitted the I-129F I did not translate my Fiance's address to Chinese. This did cause a minor problem because the delivery person did not know how to find her apartment (he could not translate the address) although it did get to the right city. He did have her phone contact though and called her so she was able to meet him and get the packet 3. This is why I think it is important to have the address in Chinese for the passport/visa delivery. I think it would maybe work out alright without it, but there might be problems and that document is too important to take the risk. As an aside, the person that delivered the passport also called her and she went to meet him at an easy place to find just to be sure. I think this is fairly common in China as there are many large apartments and sometimes they are not clearly marked from what I can tell. Also, it took about a month for the packet 3 to show up after the approved application arrived at the Consulate.
