If you mailed a personal check and have online banking, you can view the cancelled check. Somtimes the case number is on the back. It starts with 3 letters. Mine was WAC. Once you have the case number you can register at the USCIS site for updates. A lot of filers take 10 days or more for the NOA1 snail mail. I wouldn't worry at this point. If you call customer service they will tell you to wait 30 or 45 days before they will take a look into it.

Good Luck, and don't worry - you will make progress!

I think it took at least a week for us to receive the return receipt and 2 weeks for the NOA1 in the mail. You can check with your bank if the check is cashed and at the back of it would be your case number that you can use to check status online... Be patient... Hang in there!
