I called NVC today to check the status of my case, and this nice and wonderful lady gave me more insight to things I never knew about their processing.

Unlike when I call NVC, I get rushed off the phone with little to no information from other obnoxious reps, I was deeply satisfied today for the first time.

I was inquiring about police report from my country and how long it's due, she told me she would ask a supervisor. She went and asked and came back and told me that it's due for a year, regardless of what's written on it. They would accept it for a year as long as the person doesn't live in that country anymore.

She went on to check their internal website on rules about police reports. She told me that by merely reading all these she was even confused. I told her this is what we've been suffering and smiling from. The confusion and complication is out of this world.

She directed me to check their website, under supporting documents -- Police certificates....

Anyway, I went to google and searched for "reciprocacy schedule NVC" and the page came up. I chose K1 visa, typed my country in the search and there was all the required documents and how to obtain them per country. There are specific instructions there. It's not the same as the one on the supporting documents page that tells you how to get a police report from your country of birth, if you reside abroad.

The lady told me that this is what NVC checks when reviewing your case, to find out what document is obtainable or not, in case you send a forged one! She told me to contact the embassy for most questions too. They will have more insight.

So I found this hidden gem and decided to share with you all. Hopefully someone will find it useful. If you got a checklist that requires a document from abroad, this might be a good place to start. Cheers!

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: Ireland
Timeline

Your profile states you are doing a K3 spousal visa.

The thread was moved to the NVC forum, as this is the part of the process you posted about.
