Hi,

I came to Arkansas a little more than two months ago. I went to take the written test today but i was told I'll have to come back after i get my green card as i have less than a month and i need a month to take the skills test. It doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Some states require that you spend a certain amount of time practicing your driving skills and will not allow you to take your driving skills test right after you get your driving permit. I don't know what driving is like in Pakistan, but having seen driving in the Philippines, it makes sense to me to require people to practice driving in the US for some time before allowing them to take the driving skills test. I think almost everyone who has driven only in the Philippines would auto-fail a driving skills test in the US because of an unsafe act pulling out of the parking lot of the DMV, merely because of how driving is accomplished in the Philippines.

It's a different style of driving in the US than it is in many other countries. Places like England, Singapore, and Japan, especially, since they drive on the wrong side of the road.
