Question: K1 visa Approved with valid B1/B2 visa

Hi Good Day!

I have an existing B1/B2 U.S Visa. As per what I had read, the B1/B2 U.S Visa will be cancelled soonest K1 visa is approved.

During my interview, the consul just looked at my old passport with the valid B1/B2 US Visa. He returned the passport to me.

Before the interview ended, he informed me that my visa application has been approved and it will take a couple of days for me to receive my passport with the new visa.

What should be the expectations with my old visa? Is he expected to stamp cancelled on my existing visa? or something?

Or is it cancelled electronically?

Anyone who experienced the same thing? Responses are very much appreciated. :luv:

My passaport came back and my b1/b2 was stamped in big letters saying "cancelled without prejudice".

Was it taken during the interview? Mine was returned to me during the interview.

make sense. My valid visa is on my old passport and since it has expired last year, I have a new one. They took only the new one and returned the old passport.

Hi! My B1/B2 visa was also on my old passport but they took it and stamped it cancelled. Well even that they returned your old passport without cancelling your tourist visa; you don't need your B1/B2 when you have your K1 Visa anyway.

Receipt Date: Sept 2

NOA 1 Date: Sept 12 (received text/email)

NOA 1 copy rcvd: Sept 16

Biometrics Notice Date: Sept 17, received Sept 24

Biometrics Sched: Oct 5

Successful walk-in: Sept 26

Oct 13- Case ready to be scheduled for interview

EAD/AP approved - Nov. 1/2 / Received EAD/ AP Combo Card- Nov. 15

50days from NOA1/ 64 days from receipt date.

January 30-  USCIS Ap update, Interview sched on March 3, 2017

Jan 31 - received USCIS letter/ Notice for interview
