HI. My sister won the 2017 DV lottery...her number is EU127** so she is the first 12000 winners. She filled her DS on May 5, and i know WAITING is the name of the game....however, i went thru a K1 4years ago and i dont know much about the DV lottery. She is in Albania.

I have a few questions, what are the possible complications with this kind of visa? she is 22, in school, no problems with the law, she applied for herself, she knows english, i know probably all these are not important/mandatory for the visa but i am wondering. I read that not anyone is issued a visa? Is that possible that she might not even though her number is a low case number? When can we expect an interview? By December?

She was upfront at the DS 260, we applied once for a tourist visa but she got denied, and she stated so in her application...She will have a place where to stay and a job lined up for her....Sorry for all the long message and thank you all for your time!!!! I guess just a Big sister concern never ends! :)

From what you've said she should be fine. The common reasons for denial are: not meeting the education requirement (sounds like she meets), not overcoming public charge concern (can be remedied with I134 which I assume you will provide if necessary), criminal record with crime of moral turpitude, incorrect country/region of eligibility, 'errors' in name/birthdate on entry, suspicion of green card marriage with spouse acquired after winning. It doesn't sound like she needs to be worried on any of these counts - and yes while it's true not everyone is issued with an immigrant visa, the vast majority of selectees do actually get one.
