I think this is the thing that bothers me the most . . . I don't want to withhold medical from anyone that can't afford to pay . . that is why we have the big county hospital, which we all pay taxes for. But the reports of how much we are paying is starting to reflect millions of dollars and the hospital administrators have a fairly good idea about who their patrons are. Not sure if this can be resolved any time soon . . .

How did you manage to fill out the paperwork for your visa with so little reading comprehension? Did you miss the part where we were happy about them NOT getting into the country?

No one loves illegal immigration here. We're on the side of ICE removing them from the country; you seem to be on the side of putting them in American jails at taxpayer expense. What's not to understand about not wanting the illegals here and thinking that barring them from entry is better than putting them into the slow, expensive court system?

If we're talking free clinics, then the people who are being stopped at the border -- the ones in the article -- aren't in a position to use free clinics because they're being stopped at the border. If we arrested them all, and sent them to prison, we'd have to give them medical care there, so how is your "solution" helping the free clinic issue? Or was this just a non sequitur?

I mean, if all you want is mindless outrage we can do that. I applied for a K-1! World, bow at my feet! Impotent rage!

And the illegal problem does worry me. I'm just interested in solutions that actually work rather than popping a gasket any time immigration is in the papers.

No, not really. Sparkofcreation's agreeing with me, and asking you whether you want to pay for the extra prosecutors and jails your faux outrage would require. If you're willing to pay for fifty times the federal judges, fifty times the number of federal courthouses, fifty times the federal jails, fifty times the federal marshals, fifty times the number of court staff ... then the District of New Mexico would be happy to prosecute all 110,000 aliens who cross the border illegally [edit: that's just in NM, it doesn't count Texas, Arizona, California, or any of the other states] every year instead of the 2000 being prosecuted now.

I disagree here, I do Not even think we should pay to put them in Jail, We should deport them immediatly place their name in a data base ( DNA trackable) implement a 10 year ban, then put sanctions on the southern border countries that refuse to do their part in controlling Illegal immigration.

Immediate Deportation & before allowed to return wait 10 year ban, pay restitution for all money earned illegally,& for all health care or govt aide received, pay back taxes, Pay fines for federal crimes. & Then WAIT behind all others who are immigrating Legally.

That's a separate debate. Poor Americans should get priority over illegal immigrants. But I bet 99.9999% of illegal immigrants don't have health insurance where a much larger percentage of USCs and legal residents do.
