Donald Trump has been saying for months that Hillary Clinton lacks the "stamina" to be president. More recently, he has questioned whether the Democratic presidential nominee is "all there."

Those are pretty vague diagnoses, but the implications are clear: Clinton isn't healthy enough to lead the country. Although Trump has stopped short of naming a specific illness that supposedly afflicts his opponent, his spokeswoman, Katrina Pierson, asserted last week that Clinton suffers from dysphasia, and Trump allies in the media have many other theories about what ails the former secretary of state. So many theories.

To be clear, Clinton does not have a perfect health record — no surprise for someone who has spent decades in high-stress jobs and turns 69 in October. She has hypothyroidism, which hinders the thyroid's production of a hormone that regulates metabolism and can cause fatigue. She takes a prescription blood thinner to guard against clots. She fainted four years ago after becoming dehydrated and suffered a concussion, which temporarily caused double vision. All of this is documented in a letter from Clinton's physician released by her campaign last summer.

And yes, Clinton is prone to coughing spells when speaking at length. She told NBC News in February that she drinks tea and uses a humidifier to fight that persistent tickle in her throat.

But to hear some tell it, Clinton is on her death bed — actually, she should already be dead, according to the National Enquirer, which gave her six months to live last September. Clinton joked about the prediction on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Monday night, asking the host to check her pulse during the interview to make sure she was still alive.

The Washington Post Fact Checker last week awarded Trump (who is 70, by the way) four Pinocchios for his unsubstantiated "stamina" argument, and The Post's David Weigel recently debunked the "junk science"behind some of the leading rumors of a dire, undisclosed health problem. But the extended list of alleged maladies is so long that it borders on comical.
