So I got a text message there was an update to my case. I was so eager to see what was updated. It appears they are sending am I-129F RFE , request for more evidence. Any Advice on this ? Whats the usual turn around time on it?

This was surprisingly the harder thing for myself and my partner when it came to providing substantial evidence, such as text's, facetime, skype records. The things you dont really think about until they ask for it.

Best advice is think hard about whether you have ever sent money for support, there should be a record somewhere through one of the money transfer agencies. Between the two of you find any and all old emails you did not supply (this was the hardest for us as we never emailed after the first month). Any other pictures together to share. Skye or facetime records(a tough one again). Just try to compile as much extra things as you can.

As for turn around time, I would have to say it varies.

Sorry could not give more specifics but perhaps helps. Best of luck and hopefully its a quick turn around.

It's hard to predict what it is. It could've been anything like missing to check a box somewhere, blank space, etc.

Don't get crazy overthinking, just wait around for the letter that will tell you what they're looking for.

You should get the letter within a week or so and the faster you respond to it, seems like the faster they approve the petition, but there is no fixed timeframe for that.

Hope it's an easy fix, good luck.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies, really hoping for a smooth process once they get the proof they need. I thought i covered bases well with the evidence I submitted , but clearly I guess they want more :P

Well , so now they want new pictures of both me and my fiancee and further proof I am a US Citizen. When did birth certificates no long become acceptable? And they want me to send my passport? Is this unusual.

I get the deal with picture, hers didn't meet the requirements the first time.

Maybe is the type of birth certificate you sent. They usually want a long form that has both parents name, with seals and all that. Also if you didn't send copies of the back and front it could be an issue. I'd send copies of all passport pages to be safe.

the passport pictures should be 2x2 and if you have scanned ones you can use a web service (many options if you google) that will make like 2 rows of 3 pictures and you can go to Walgreens and print for cheap.

This is an easy fix, you can do it in no time and send it fast. That's great for you.

Good luck

Do you think it be a good idea to get the copy of my passport notarized to be safe?

Sent my RFE Stuff in on Satuday 9/10/2016 , they got it Yesterday ,and sent me a late night text telling me they updated my case. My first thought was it was going to be the 2nd NOA , but rather it just reads "Our California Service Center office will begin working on your case again. We will mail you a decision or notify you if we need something from you"

So feels like its so close, but so far. :clock: , more waiting. Hopefully it shouldn't take long for a decision, and I hope they don't want anything else out of me

well mine was right , but her's wasn't correct. I didn't realize the difference was 2x3 cut ... and I had to get a 2x2 , and for some reason they wanted a new one of me.. what she did is have the picture taken , and she emailed the digital file and I was able to print at the local cvs, so there wouldn't be any question about the size.
