Turns out that Jorge was growing weed before it was legal (for "medical" purposes) in California. He has a felony on his record and it's preventing him from getting an apartment. HUH? I have never been asked about my criminal record when looking for an apt.

I figured it was that. How old is this guy?

If he is so rich he needs to buy a condo/house in cash instead of living in hotels like a slummer.

(Joining convo late, I didn't know this thread existed)...

In poor Pedro's defense about missing his flight-- the arrivals board showed that he was going through Ft. Lauderdale (looks like on Jet Blue, too which would make sense from DR) so he POE'd there and missed the connection to ATL. I'm guessing Pedro has next to no travel experience (could be wrong but, I doubt he's left the islands, if he's even left DR) and therefore Dum-Dum Chantel (or maaaaybe TLC) probably booked the ticket and probably booked whatever cheap flight she used to fly back and forth all the time (if Chantel) or the cheapest period (if TLC) and didn't factor in time at POE. When he called her, he was stuck in Florida, having missed his flight, through very likely no fault of his own (this happened to Mohammed at JFK too, if I recall).

This is especially insane because a direct flight (of which there are many options to ATL) is maybe $100 more but with bag fees (he does have bags to immigrate with right), and depending on what airline he'd have flown with a direct flight, a direct flight could have been less expensive overall. Plus the whole part where most folks would happily pay a little extra for a direct flight, generally, in life even for frequent travelers. But especially when buying for a loved one who has picked up their life and moved to a foreign country they've never seen all for you and who not have much if any flying and airport experience (again with a guess about Pedro's travel history) and who has to deal with a much more complex border experience than "here's my US passport, back from vacay" with a ticking clock to make your connection. Bad choice. Bad choice made worse by the fact that the ticket was booked so that he was trying to catch the day's last flight from FLL to ATL. So not even an opportunity for a little wiggle room if POE makes him miss the flight. And apparently no money for a hotel. Poor guy spent his first night in the US trying to sleep on an airport floor. I'm hoping it was TLC's doing and not Chantel's. But unless they were somehow contractually obligated to let TLC choose the ticket, I'd have said thanks but no thanks and booked a direct flight myself.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. 16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

Not any longer.

My thought was either that he's had legal problems due to the marijuana before it was legal in CA, or something maybe with not being able to get a home loan or similar because of it (or get mortgage insurance for a home loan, as that's a federal program? idk).

Or perhaps, a past bankruptcy (this I think would be a much MUCH bigger deal to Anafisia than a past felony plus they did get the visa which is not impossible with a drug felony but she'd *know* about it then, right?). Or maybe that's just the similarities to Trump bleeding through my subconscious....

It seems that in the some parts of the US, fat chicks can hook up with desperate guys quite easily.

WOW Anfisa is ugly! and she believes that she is beautiful to be a model...unbelievable.

The Moroccan guy is a scammer, and his fiancee needs a mirror.

Anfisa is not ugly by any means, that's not fair. She is pretty and has a nice (enhanced) body. She's just not as hot as SHE and JORGE think that she is. And she knows that she has her felon bobo wrapped around her little finger so she gets what she wants or she threatens to go back to Russia.

I agree about the Moroccan guy. And she is so clingy that if he gets a green card out of this one, he will have earned it.:rofl::rofl:

His responses to her are so robotic that it's funny. She says I love you, and he replies right away without even looking at her (in fact, purposefully looking away from her). One time she said I love you and he was looking at the wall above her and said it and she asked if he's saying it to the wall. And she's too slow to understand that affection in public is not really acceptable behavior in Muslim countries as far as I know (can anybody confirm?).
