Oh yea, spend billions on a satellite to measure ice thickness. Something which we have no control over. Money well spent.

People are saying that you could put some ice cubes from the gas station in there and fix it. Why aren't scientists talking about this?

Man medieval times was hot

13044_d.png

It was hot, but without the existence of thermometers, or even a temperature scale, we can only guess as to how hot it was.

Your graph looks nice, but the consensus of current evidence is it was about as warm as the mid 20th century, which was about half a degree less than the current global mean.

Lets be honest..the graph looks like it was created on an Apple II with a dot matrix printer...no offense meant.

Its obvious...climate scientists are idiots, we on CEHEST have so much more reliable sources of data

and, and NASA is a boondogle...oh yeah and the moon shot... Fake!

What does it matter what it looks like, as long as the data is accurate? And is half a degree all that significant? As pointed out, our measurement systems of 1000 years ago, and even accurate records from more than 400 years ago may be in question. But the reality is... Climate changes. It changed before man was on earth. For all we know, we are 10, or 30, or 300 or 300,000 miles closer to the sun this century than we were last century. There is so much we don't know about the universe, and it is SO MUCH larger than all of us put together. It's getting warmer. It will get colder. When? Who knows? Our little troposphere is such a finite, minuscule entity when compared to the rest of the cosmos.

Sorry, Harpa, but the ignorance in that comment prevents logical discussion.

Another thing that effects the climate are volcano eruptions. When mount Tambora erupted in 1815, that following summer, most of Europe did not have a summer and temperatures reached only 59 degrees far of the normal for the summer months. Global temperatures were down an average of 30 degrees and rainfall was down an average of 4% the following year. Crops suffered thus did live stock and people were starving. It took around 5 years for temperature to recover to normal.

Mount Tambora's eruption put a lot of pollution in the air over a couple of days that effected the worlds climate for years. Man had been putting far less pollution in the air but it has been going on at an increasing rate since the industrial revolution over 60 years ago. Just saying.

You are correct that particulate and ash from Volcanos can have a profound short term effect on the climate. The specific concern with global warming is co2 in the air and ocean.

Dakine said my graph looked nice. The ditch needs to make up its mind .

we encourage dissenting voices in the ditch

We need to build a wall to keep this co2 out and we will make the co2 pay for it, believe me!

Your first reply blasted NASA for wasting our money...now you want to know about the orbit of the earth....make up your mind

Can't we just round up the CO2 and deport it from our atmosphere? Or just the bad CO2 and the good CO2 we need to work with it? I get confused so easily...

Now I'm not so sure about the wall, maybe some of the co2 should stay. But if the co2 should leave and then come back, we would let that co2 stay.
