War in beneficiary's country

There are so many rumors of war starting up in Ukraine again and I'm getting worried. Does anyone know if war in beneficiary's country affects visa process? I know in adoption cases it speeds up USCIS end of things. Wondering if they'd rush I-129 approval or not. Or maybe it would slow things down at embassy?

There has been no increase in speed of processing for Syrian cases. If anything, it could make the process slower as the mail system is affected, the ability to obtain certain documents may be affected, the embassy may have to close and the cases be transferred to a neutral country for processing.

But who knows until it happens how it will affect things?

I think it is business as usual in the Ukraine related to K1 visas. You might check the regional thread, or ask the question there, but I didn't see any references to accelerated processing times due to any conflicts even when they were more than rumors.

Good Luck!

I was in the process of obtaining my K1 visa in January-February 2014..when we had all those protests and more than a hundred civilians got killed in the heart of my hometown, in Kiev. But even during that time the US Embassy in Kiev worked perfect, without any delays..
So, i wouldn't really worry about slowing down things at the Embassy - they do their best. I would say it works with "the next day availability" to schedule your interview. The same with medical. And usually it takes 5-7 days to get a passport with visa.
So, I believe (and i've done this) - as soon as your case at the Embassy stage, your Fiance could be done with everything within 2-3 weeks. As you see - there is really nothing to expedite when the case is in Kiev.
But, unfortunately, I doubt you could rush things due to the war at the East of Ukraine with the USCIS or NVC when the case gets there.. Unless your Fiance lives in the conflict area (hope, he does not).. And even in this case i don't think you could do much...

I understand your worries... Hope your I-129F will get approved as soon as possible and NVC will be moving the case to Kiev without delay..
