It's been a while since I last logged on this board so for those who know who I am, Hi! I'm doing good, just been real busy.

Ok on to my problem, well more like my husband's problem.

My husband's computer fried and we had to get him a new one. Unfortunatly we can't get Microsoft Office 2003 to activate on his new computer. It tells him that he's already at his max (of 1 computer) to activate. His old computer is dead. We managed to save the hard-drive but we do not know how to de-activate/re-activate Office onto his new computer. Even when he accesses his old hard-drive he can't activate his old Office that is on there. So, my question for you guru's is...is there any way activate his old Office 2003 on his new computer or go about this without having to buy a whole new Office?

If this is worded poorly, I apologize. I just don't know how else to explain this situation.

You have to call Microsoft and explain what happened. They give you an activation code that you enter to allow Office to work. Welcome to the age of Big Brother.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Go Big Brother :P

Yeah we're going to try that, calling. Thanks for the help. Was just hoping there was another way without having to make any calls. Ah well.

I agree - it's no real big deal, just install it - get to the activation screen and select Call/Telephone (or what ever the phrasing is, just not Activate Via Internet)...

Once you're on the phone, the person will ask you what the code (now on your screen) is - they'll ask you a few questions - just tell them what happened (and p.s., even if you didn't fry your other PC - I know you did, but for anyone else reading - , just say you did.. ;) )

They'll give you an activation code - be prepared to write a LONG series of numbers down (and write them down...) to punch in..and whala.. =) you're in.. :dancing:

Takes maybe 5 minutes...

Yeah, they'll ask whether you've installed the software on multiple computers, which is a big no-no with 'em. So just tell them you've reformatted a few times now and hit the limit.
