Being in Law school myself and having an immigration lawyer as my friend, I highly suggest getting a lawyer. Hire an Immigration lawyer that you can trust.

Use this site- https://www.avvo.com/ and find an immigration lawyer you can trust. Interview a few more, have direct and specific questions ready and then hire one you can afford. You cannot do this alone as the other posters have said and there are many hurdles that will arise (without a doubt given your background) and you will not be able to defend yourself properly or respond to the roadblocks appropriately given your limited immigration knowledge. There are many things that can be done that only a lawyer would and could properly execute thus if you want to stay here you have no other choice.
