Hi,

I am looking to gather confirmation as to what type of Police Clearance I need to obtain. (I got a basic one the police detachment said, and not a "sector" certificate?) And also, do I need fingerprints? My attorney says I do need fingerprints but everyone else has said no. Thanks.

I got the certificate of no conviction from SPVM (near Place des Arts) - The police de quartier apparently does not issue them in Montreal so I had to go to the HQ of the SPVM. It took me 15 minutes and it was $40-60 (I don't remember exactly sorry). They took my finger prints and the certificate is in English and French. I got it in a week! :-)

you don't need fingerprints unless you have a record.

I just told them I needed the clearance for immigration purposes and they made sure I got the correct one.

We have interview for F4 (family immigrant visa). Myself, wife and daughter (24 yr) now.

We all are living in USA since many years but since we were living in Canada at time of filing I-130, we got interview in Montreal.

As Per NVC website if you were age 16 or more and residing in that country, you need a police clearance. So I got the PCC from RCMP by mailing to their agents and doing fingerprtinting in USA.

I did not send them my daughters (since presumed not needed- she had left Canada when she was 12 )

No I get email from Montreal that daughter to bring PCC> I replied to email that she was 12 when left Canada. They replied - explain at the interview - it is up to the officer !!!

It is only 3 weeks left for interview, and mine took about a month by mail. Is there any faster way for my daughter to get at least a basic check without finger prints ?

Can she do from USA ? If not we are flying one day before interview..

If you are 16 years of age or older, you must submit a photocopy of a police certificate from the following locations:

From your... If you were... And resided there... Country of nationality At least 16 years of age At least 6 months Country of residence At least 16 years of age At least 6 months Country of previous residence At least 16 years of age At least 1 year Any country where you were arrested Any age For any timeframe

  • You must send a photocopy of your police certificate(s) to the NVC.
  • You must submit a photocopy of your police certificate(s) to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview.

Note: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates.

Calgary Police Services made sure I had the correct PIC for immigration. No fingerprints required and it took a few weeks to come in, and it covers any and all records in Canada, although I've been living in Calgary my entire life since I was born thus far.

This is a perfect post for me I was just going to ask about this! So I just got my "police name check". I went to the Edmonton Police check place and they gave me a form that says:

"Clear"

"Searched of the Canadian Police information Center / National Repository for Repository of Criminal Records, Alberta Justice Online Information Network an the local records of the Edmonton Police Service in addition to other police agencies as required were conducted in the preparation of this Police Information Check Certificate."

Also I did not get a Vulnerable Sector Search. Is this enough for my Packet 3?
