I filed I-130 for my dad and it was approved and sent to the home consulate. As he is pretty high up of an well known international company he had to travel to another country's head office to take up an interim CEO role. This can take anywhere between 6 to 9 months before he comes back. I had email USCIS to change consulate 2 months ago but did not get a reply.

I just wanted to see how long an approved I-130 is valid for so he can submit the required documents to finish his side of the process. Is there a limit to how long he has or the application is valid and he has whatever time to submit as the letter we received did not have any deadline date on it.

Any information will be appreciated.

you have the answers on at least 3 pieces of documents given to you.. the notice of actions (1 and 2), AOS and IV invoices.

The simple answer is 1 year.

A quick google search or a search on USCIS would have saved you a waiting time with USCIS..

Case dispatched from diplomatic mail service to NVC : 01/23/2017

Case arrived at NVC: 01/26/2017

NVC sent case to USCIS : 02/09/2017 (system update)

Case receive by USCIS (text & email notification): 03/07/2017
