Interview Language

My SO recently read that all of the K1 Interview will be in English. This has her worried to death. Of course her English is not perfect but it can be understood. She does however have a little trouble with listening. If spoken too fast she does struggle. She is worried that the interview will be difficult for her simply because she doesn't believe they will accommodate her by speaking slowly. Has anyone ever heard how they treat the interviewee as far as the English language is concerned? I would really like to calm her nerves a little bit.

My fiance is from Dominican Republic but his was done in his language and not in english. I am not sure how they do it in her country but i thought i might let you know. Good luck!

My wife's interview was done in Thai. The CO was a young man who I reckon'd wanted to practice his Thai which my wife said was very good.

I'm sure that almost of the CO can speak and understand Thai. In most cases for immigrant visa they will try to speak English with your fiance to see if the relationship is real. Which make sense that if you can't communicate then how do you keep the relationship going, I agree. As I was in the interview room with 10 different people for K1. I can say that non of them speak English perfectly. Most of them are in the beginning-medium level. Everybody was so scared of English interview but all of them passed the interview just fine. I'm sure the CO would understand if your fiance at least try to speak as much English then some in Thai. I even heard the CO spoke Thai to some of them.

Thank you so much. This is really good news. She can speak English and can understand. It just has to be a little slow. I am sure she will be just fine then. Heck if they gave the interview by text message she is probably better then they are at English and faster! I will let her know. Thanks again

My wife had her interview in English, but she's fluent. My understanding is it will be conducted in Thai if necessary.
