I find myself leaning more towards the Democratic side but do like a lot of the ideas on the republican side so with that in mind going to start the new American Party!

The government should be in charge but not controlling everything. More laws should be left up to the states. We need some type of regulation to protect people, workers, companies

Flat rate taxes on people and businesses - very few exceptions. Everybody pays into social security.

Women should have the right to an abortion but some type of counseling and terms for repeaters and their partners.

Immigration - procedures should say the same for visas and if your here now, you need to register so we know who you are so you can start paying taxes and then could qualify for healthcare assistance, only deported if criminal activity is proven or did not register in allotted time frame but with not be deportation if you register after time ran out before being caught.

Healthcare - government help if you fall within the guidelines, no penalty if you do not have it but if you need it then no government assistance.

Minimum wages should be set by the states.

Less military but with state of the art technology and weapons. In times of war or national emergency, spending can increase.

Gay marriage - To each his own

Companies who manufacture, sell, and are headquartered here have no adder tax. 10% tax for no manufacturing here + another 10% tax if no headquarters here. So Companies who only sell in the US will have a 20% adder tax.

Just some ideas for the new American Party but not set in stone!

As for the presidential race this year:

I am not a Hillary fan but I do not like the thought of Trump being the president at all!

So you'd be comfortable letting people die in the streets if they fail to have the means to pay for life saving care they need? Sorry, that's a non-starter.

Companies who have their headquarters (paying less tax) and manufacturing (cheap labor) outside the US and only sell their product here would have the 20% adder tax

So you'd be comfortable letting people die in the streets if they fail to have the means to pay for life saving care they need? Sorry, that's a non-starter.

People would not die in the streets just as it is now. Hospitals don't turn anyone away if your dying when you come in! Maybe the hospitals could put in a claim on the case and get reimbursed for an agreed amount.

Healthcare (Obomacare) is a very tricky thing. With the costs of treatment and drugs going up faster then a rocket, how do you make it work? How do you make every person who needs medical help get the help they need. How do you get the proper medical prescription drugs to the people who needs them to survive or then allows them to be able to work? How do you regulate the pricing for treatment and drugs for what we pay vs hospitals pay? Drugs that cost $1000 per treatment are just plain wrong!

Before Obomacare I had decent health insurance, my appendix operation costed me $1,000.00 out of my pocket for a $14,000.00 operation, now the same operation with Obomacare because my employer dropped our insurance will cost me $6,000.00 out of pocket at least and I'm paying over $600.00 per month now when before it was $160.00 copay.

Everybody is making money off the medical field, drug makers, insurance companies, doctors and nurses, medial equipment makes, everybody and its all left up to the person who is sick or ill to pay for it! They are making billions to keep their investors happy and lets not forget about the lawyers too! Hospitals and Doctors pay a lot of money to insurance companies just to have coverage.

It is a very scary thing to think that in the world we live in that life or death = pay or can't pay!!!

Mine was just a brief idea that would need a lot of tweaking but I would never ever want someone to go with medical treatment they need just because they could not pay for it for whatever reason!

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

Private hospitals can turn persons away. Often those who go to private hospitals are those who are critically ill suffering from rare diseases or cancers and may be the most desperate because their other options have ran out (or previously because their insurances refused to pay). The OP's conclusion is that no one dies ''in the streets just as it is now'', this is actually not quite true... and you can find studies around the concept. There are some wild claims but there isn't a wide enough data net to solidify the accuracy of those claims. What studies have shown is that it is most likely true and there are several factors why. Going into details on that would be for another thread though. Before O'care, pre-existing conditions were not covered, which contributed to a great deal of hardship. Even with O'care and pre-existing conditions being covered, insurance companies have the final say on what drugs and treatment may or may not be covered, against the strongest advice of a doctor, which can put patients in life-threatening and yes in some cases, life-ending situations. I have seen this first-hand too many times to count. With or without O'care does also not solve the problem of expense leading people into life-threatening situations.

Additionally, my philosophy is the government needs to get out of the bedroom, that means the OP's idea regarding forced ''counseling'' to those having abortions escapes the boundaries of what my libertarian sensibilities would imagine a limited government needs to be doing.

The sad thing is, only in America would $1,000 for surgery and the word decent go in the same sentence for someone who actually has insurance. Nowehere in the developed world would any insured person consider that a decent cost except for here.

I do agree drug companies charge too much in America. The weird thing is it's like they tack everything(research, production, marketing etc) on Americans while selling it for much cheaper around the world. I would not be opposed to sensible regulation that caps that, however, while I do not believe there should be a for-profit health insurance market, I do believe of course drug companies have the right to make money off of their drugs. For centuries that has been the main motivator behind progress, if you don't have an incentive to come up with a new idea or to do research because you don't believe you will be able to profit off of it then you just won't do it. Simple as that. Most inventions come from greed however in their case the greed needs to be reigned in. On the other hand insurance companies are doing nothing to better the world - they don't come up with new products that help people, they don't invent anything, so they don't need the same incentive.

So if you let the states do everything, then what do you do when they do racist things? You want them to set the min wage, what if they set it to .02?

It makes alot of sense for each state to determine its own minimum wage, for the mere fact that each state is very different and has a very different cost of living. A, say, $12 minimum wage in Texas would go much much further than VT or HI.

This is what really stuck out for me. If it's "to each his or her own" when it comes to gay marriage, why should it not be to each her own when it comes to abortion? We've seen what "abortion counselling" looks like at the state level, and it ain't pretty.

Why should a woman be "counselled" about abortion anyway? What would even be the point of it? It seems to latch on to this idea that women are having abortions with giddy abandon. They're not.

I think each state and town should have their own military. Washington State could ally with California and prevent Texas from leaving
