New card being produced questions

Hello, I filed AOS for my wife and our 2 minor children. I filed the green card application, travel authorization and employment authorization for the 3 of them. Biometrics was done July 6 and the case status after that date just showed case received. Today she received a text with an update but the update was only for both kids MSC numbers for the employment authorization. It says "New card being produced". Does anybody have a clear answer to this and what it means? I've searched the forums and I cant find a definite answer. Does it mean they are producing a green card or an employment authorization? They are both 13 years old. And I find it weird because they came as K-2's with my wife and I don't see any updates on her MSC numbers.

Cards will be produced for whichever case the status was updated for. If it's their i485 it will be their green card, if the status update was for their i765 then it will be their eads.

USCIS website will not tell you much. We filed for EAD/green card early May. Just received EAD today. Green card will follow, but not sure when. I talked with USCIS and was told that the website does not give much info (something about security, blah blah blah).

My phone call with USCIS was very productive and informative. Call them.

Thanks for the responses. I just checked and my wife just had the same update of New card being produced for her employment authorization. That status just changed a few minutes ago. At least something has been processed for the 3 of them which is a relief. I just find it weird that they would approve employment authorizations for 13 year olds. But anyways, it's another step forward. Again, thank you!!

For them to get employment authorization, you must have filed for them, right? You shouldn't be surprised. Getting their ead will allow them to get social security numbers, that's pretty much what's the ead is worth for children.

My wife's EAD status changed to "new card being produced" this afternoon, and now, a few hours later I got an update, for both her EAD & AP that said "case approved".

They must do batch updates, now we are excited to see how long it takes for the card to arrive!
