So, I have a friend that owns a bilingual school in Honduras and she wants to invite americans to come and work at her school as english teachers and help the kids there(because its like a village type). She say she can provide food and shelter. Its like a sort of volunteering, but she dont have any contact or know where to start. Any friends of yours have done volunteering before? How does it work? Who pays the ticket? I have heard it have to be a ONG supporting her or a catholic church....but not sure. Any idea will be appreciated!

PS. Hope this is the right forum, if its not, please moderator move it to the right place ty!)

It does not seem like volunteering if in exchange for teaching English the teacher would be compensated with room and board.

What are the work visa requirements for Honduras?

Good luck

It is still considered volunteering. I've done it before via worldteach.org and we got paid for our return flight tickets to the island in Micronesia, food and board, and a small stipend of $300 per month. And we didn't have to file taxes for that. And oh, visa was taken care of by the organization as well.

Marc82 you know what I am talking! As far as I know thats how it is most of the time, that the "sponsor" provides food and shelter..

EandH about the getting a partner, well I honestly do not know. Will ask her, but she just need a few names of organizations to check them out.
