We have a 5 year Certification similar to the Waffenbesitzkarte.

We have a similar "knowledge test"

Fully Automatic arms are also completely illegal in California.

We have similar storage requirement laws.

We are limited in how many guns can be bought per year.

You can actually buy a broader range of guns (mostly handguns) in Germany than California. We have to do a background check every time ammo is purchased. I don't think Germans do that.

You will have to have an "ammo card" in two years. Germans don't do that.

About the only thing I don't see in California is the 25 and under psych evaluation.

How about that justification piece that central to German gun laws.?Justification excluding self defense, that is. German and Cali laws are somewhat similar once you have cleared that justification burden - and that's not simple. Out of Germany's population of 80 million, only about 2 million are registered gun owners. There are estimates that some 20 million firearms are owned illegally in Germany. Not sure what guns that is supposed to include but I find that figure hard to believe.

Google Korea and suicide rates. Not so many guns in Korea.

Maybe it's not the guns

I know all about Korea's suicide rate. If you knew how much pressure Korean children are placed under to achieve, it is easy to understand why so many Koreans kill themselves. I am sure Korea's suicide rate would be even greater if guns were as easy to get hold of as in America.

I C . Korean epidemic suicide rate has nothing to do with guns, but suicide in America is due to guns. Got it.

I would say thats yet another example of common ground with California as show by the Peruta case.

But here is something Germans dont have to deal with. A handgun roster that has effectively frozen the purchase of new handguns. In California about the most modern firearm you can buy is from the year 2013. As time progresses, less and less handgun models can be purchased.

Back in 2008 you could buy about 1400 different models of handguns in California. As of right now its dropped to 769. Thats about 80 models per year that are lost. If that were to continue at a steady rate, in about 9 years you won't be able to buy a modern handgun in the state.
