USCIS gave us a visa, green card hasn't come, USCIS says contact State

My wife finally made it in with a big visa across a page in her passport, about 3 months ago. The green card never came (the guy at the airport said it might take 8 weeks), so I just looked up the case status on the USCIS "My case status" page. Strangely, that status says: On March 31, 2015, we sent your case, Receipt Number X, to the Department of State for visa processing (we entered the US in mid-May). I called the USCIS's automated line and entered the receipt number, and it said the same thing.

I thought we were done with State at this point in the process. What's going on?

don't worry they haven't updated your case, the GC can take several months, that's why she has the temporary visa i551 in her passport valid for 1 year

It can take 120 days or longer. I have 2 friends entered US back in April and they paid the $165 before coming and still no green card and its past the 20 days the USCIS say to wait before calling them.

There's no way to track. You have your IOE# that's the account number you need to give to USCIS so they can look up.
