montreal: what to bring

how come in the packet it doesn't mention to bring an unsigned 230 with you? nor was one provided. how would people know to bring it? i just learned about it here.

also, it says to bring originals of documents and forms. retype new originals (an oxymoron? hah) of the forms we already sent in throughout our packets and applications? like, retype them with their original old dates? or just copies of the ones we turned in (says even when you go to fill them out online that you cannot save them. so since we didn't know we had to print out so many at that time, we do not have more of the ones we sent in). or, do we retype them with any changes that may have occured?

it mentioned in our packet to make sure to read carefully and fill out forms completely; however, no forms were provided. is that a default paper they use for everyone, regardless if they have forms to fill out or not?

or just bring originals of documents, and not forms (except of course an updated affidavit of support)? which would make more sense to me.

thanks!

You need to bring originals of any supporting evidence you have submitted already, or plan to submit at the interview. The only originals that should have been sent were the official forms - for those, bring copies. In fact, you should walk with a complete copy of your entire file.

Montreal has been picky in the past about only using the forms they sent with packet 3, however, now that everything is moving to filling out forms electronically, this is not so much the case any more.

They have changed their requirements on when to send back what forms since I filed, so I can't help you with specifics, but if you check out the embassy info page here on VJ, perhaps it will give you more up-to-date information.

When I sent my packet 3 back in Jan. I had to send the completed 230 form, the checklist along with duplicate DS-156 filled out online and include my 2 pics attached to each one of em.

The DS -156 is still here with me I bring that unsigned on my interview day they told me

Maybe they have changed things again because I was at the time of sending mine confused about the pics attachedor not

As previous to that time people were required to have 2 passport pics on the day of the interview .

I called and they told me send them attached as requested along with the other forms mentioned

I Hope this is of some help to you

Sorry if I left you confused even more. I forgot to put the K behind the DS- 156 form I still have with me

The duplicate forms I filled online and sent were the DS-156 sent with pics attached

The form I still have and bring unsigned on the interview day is the DS- 156K

And Mo states it would be wise to have copies of everything with you
