Hello! My UK-Citizen husband and I got married on 7/22 (he arrived 7/18, applied for SSN 7/17 and recieved it already) on the K-1 and we just got our NOA1(for all three...still cant check the status on USCIS!! :() and we were talking today about the EAD.

We had a few questions:

-When did your partner start applying for jobs? After the fingerprinting/biometrics? Before?

-What did they do to pass the time? Volunteer work? Projects?

Hes going a bit stir crazy, and of course the extra income would be nice once its finally in.

AOS From K1:

Package sent via FedEx priority - 7/22/2016
USCIS received package - 8/1/2016
NOA1 via text n Email for all three (I-485,work auth, &AP) - 8/10/2016
NOA1 received in the post/mail for all three - 8/13/2016
Filed: Lift. Cond. (apr) Country: China

As has been mentioned numerous times before in these fora, the new immigrant you can apply for jobs, before/after biometrics, etc. The one thing the new immigrant cannot do is to start working without an EAD or GC.

-What did they do to pass the time? Volunteer work? Projects? Yes, they can volunteer, do projects, go to school.

Hes going a bit stir crazy, and of course the extra income would be nice once its finally in.

Welcome to the forum.
