Time between Medical Exam and Interview

What is the maximum time allowed between the medical exam and the interview?

i'd say three months. Your medical is valid for six months and must be valid when you immigrate to the US. Usually, COs don't issue visas with a validity date of less than three months. To be on the safe side, try having your medial no sooner than a month before your interview.

I appreciate the response,, but you did not sound certain about the time period. Does anybody know for certain? I don't want to make scheduling decisions with knowing for sure.

Everything I've read so far (unofficial) implies only 1 week is allowed.

No, I am certain that the medical is valid for six months and must be valid at the time of immigration. No one can tell you the exact timeframe because there is no exact timeframe, it all depends on the CO. Most COs want the medical to be valid for at least three months after the interview although some COs want longer validity and some are ok with shorter. Hence why I suggested that you have the medical at last within the month of your interview.

At their request they had us go ahead and do the medical, and then we were eligible for our interview, but a date still hasn't been given to us. I would think there's some way to extend them? What about people in AP for months? Wouldn't that mean they have to have another medical? I have no idea myself, just a thought.

Yes, if they are in AP for a long time, the embassy often requests another medical is taken before the visa is issued.

The interview application is good for one year. Extendable in 4 month intervals by USEM. Medical is good for six months so the validity of the visa is tied to the medical making the visa valid date to the medical exam date. So six months from medical your visa expires. If you complete your medical and wait two or three months to interview then there is the possibility you find you have days not weeks to be on US soil.

The dates ARE NOT up to the discretion of the CO. They are based on the medical date.

If your medical expires before having your interview (remember it's only valid for six months) then you will need to retake the medical. You must pay the medical fee again.

And now we face having to possibly have to pay another medical fee because the embassy has yet to schedule our interview. In that case I hope we aren't in AP long.

Because my fiance may need to get a psych exam as well (due to wrist scars from 10 years ago)... I want to ensure that there is plenty of margin after the medical exam to deal with anything they might throw at us....

So I was hoping to get the medical done,, and then have the interview scheduled for 4-6 weeks later.

That schedule will work. It gives him

plenty of time and your not going to sacrifice any additional time then needed. At the end he should have plenty of time to get into the US.

Each Embassy is different. That's why I don't answer questions for other Embassy's. Philippines is a little different than Saudi. It's easier but with more steps and documents. But it's easy to pass if you can show a bonafide relationship and you have the correct documents.

My fiance' is Filipino and I really wish we could have had his interview in the Philippines. Most people coming from the Embassy in the Philippines always seem to be approved, and they seem like a very very fast embassy.

Hi guys. My fianceé has received an email from NVC regarding her interview schedule. Can she schedule her medical exam 3 weeks prior to her interview date? We've been calling their clinic but unable reach them. She has already registered online. Thanks.
