Thank you all so much. I can not tell how it feels, I just dont have the vocabulary! :o

This morning is so different than all the mornings in the last few months since we started this process back in Sept 2005. Every day we would wake up, looking forward to this day. There was constant stress in the back of mind knowing that nothing is definite until the visa is actually approved.

We wake up today and that feeling of stress has gone, we feel so relaxed and happy. Knowing the time of our union is on us now, we really feel like top of the world. I am sure senior couples here who have gone through this before us can understand how we feel.

Jahan and Christine would like to thank everyone here on VJ, the support and encouragement here has always been fantastic. VJ now feels like a family! :luv:

Keigwyn and James&Miranda are now next on the list and I understand how you must be feeling. No matter what I say, its impossible to relax until you know you have been approved. Christine was more nervous than I, I was very calm...even when I was told by the lady that visa had been approved. In my heart I always knew that there will be no problem, since our relationship is genuine and we had all the paperwork...knowing this helped me keep myself calm.

James&Miranda and Keigwyn, have faith...your feelings for your loved one are genuine and you have nothing to worry about...just be yourself at the interview and do express your feelings to the consular officer and tell them how you have felt all this time without your partner.

We know we will be hearing the great news from you in the next few days, we just know we will!

All the best!

Yours always,

Christine and Jahan.

HUGS to Beaner!

Your time will come, sooner than you know and it will go smooth. I am not going to be entering the USA until the end of May. I still have to give a month's notice to my employer, then I am going to Pakistan for a few weeks...then straight to my honey's arms around the end of May.

I will keep you all informed of my activities and the POE experience etc.

Take care and good luck with the next steps of your visa journey :)

So, how long in total would you say the whole process in the Embassy took? I'm assuming they actually let you in at your interview time. I'm just curious because I'm supposed to be leaving for the beach Monday morning (9am my time, 3pm for him and his interview is at 10:30am) and I wanna be sure we have plenty of time to talk on the phone after the interview or I need to bump up my leaving time!

Miranda,

My interview was also at 10:30 am, they let people in depending on the time of their appointment. The problem is that there are so many people waiting to go into the embassy everyday and they cant let everyone enter the building at the same time, even if they have the same appointment time.

So what they do is, they send groups of 10-15 people...then wait...then another 10-15. On my day, people who had interviews at 10am were still in the queue outside until around 10:30am.

When they finally asked for people with 10:30am appointments to come forward, I was first in the queue

When I entered the embassy it was almost 11am. I was outside the embassy at 9am, so had to wait 2 whole hours outside in the freezing wind.

Once in the embassy, it hardly took an hour...most of which was waiting for my ticket number to be called, the interview took under 2 mins! The waiting time once INSIDE the embassy will depend on how many people are waiting infront of James in the IMMIGRANT VISA category. Majority of people waiting will be in other categories which is good for us!

How long it will take also depends on his position in the queue. The first queue will be for people with interviews at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00. The next queue will be for people with interviews at 10:30 and later. If he goes there super early, he will have to stand in the second queue. If he does NOT go too early, he will have alot of people ahead of him...all for 10:30am appointments, in which case he will probably have to wait longer INSIDE the embassy (but also depends how many of them are going for immigrant visas). I hope this helps.

My advice to James will be to dress as warm as possible and check weather forecast for his interview day, there will be nothing worse if its raining & he has to stand outside for 2 hours.

All the best to you both!

Jahan&Chris.

jmwaziri, what time did you leave the embassy? I am trying to plan getting a train from euston, and the last cheap ticket ends at 15:05. Do you think thats enough time to get to euston station after a 10:30 interview?

Thanks

~James

Sorry James, I was very busy on Saturday...Christine just sent me an offline msg on Yahoo about your question. I was out of the embassy by 12pm so you should have no problem catching the train at 15:05

Also, morning rush hour in London was the worst I have ever seen so far. From Euston I went to Bond Street which is just 3 stations away and then its hardly a 10 min walk from Bond St to the US Embassy. From Euston I took the Victoria Line to Oxford Circus and then Central Line from Oxford Circus to Bond St. This took me about 45 minutes, the tubes are all packed full in the morning

I wish you and Keigwyn all the best for your interviews tomorrow  Do not forget to dress up warm! Weather forecast for London tomorrow is not showing any signs of rain yippeeee  but u never know!

By the way I got a text message from Special Mail Services (SMS) yesterday, the courier service that delivers our pasports, that my passport will be delivered on Monday. 20 Mar 06

All the best guys!

Jahan.
