hi

you can't do anything, she is the one that has to show strong ties, having money in the bank means nothing, she has more ties to the US, having a child here that can sponsor her than ties to her country

does she have property, job, a family to return to? how will she convince the officer that she has to return?

it looks worse since she is dependent on you because you are putting money in the bank, but she isn't earning it herself with a job that she has to return to

if they ask her where the money is coming from, she has to tell the truth

Has she travelled abroad before? If not, having taken a couple of short trips and returned can help. Perhaps have her meet you in Mexico for a long weekend, or a shopping spree in Canada if she can get a visa to there.

ITS HARD FOR DOMINICANS TO JUST TRAVEL THEY NEED VISAS TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY NO MATTER THE DESTINATION

I thought that in the Caribbean they do not need a visa to travel to other islands. Look at going to Trinidad and coming back home.

Putting money in her acct just for the visa is wrong. However, giving her money is understandable we all give parents money.

Each embassy is different in how they issue a visa. My father in law only got his because he is in his late 70s

Its really not as easy as it sounds to be quite honest. You first and foremost must have the resources to be able to just simply leave the country and to have the visa to boot. You mentioned your father in law.. and yes my father received his several years ago as he too is older as well. We have discussed the tourist visa as well, we felt that it would be futile and we decided to wait for her to become a Naturalized Citizen, as we are simply waiting for the interview. My apologies for the rant..

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law, then later my aunt and cousin got 10 year tourist visas. We did all the paperwork, and I think it's just luck of the draw for some. We had a wedding invitation; I wonder if inviting for a specific event might help? My mother-in-law has a husband, shared property, a job, four grandchildren and a child dependent on her, but not much money in the bank. I don't think that sending her money would help, because she looks more dependent on you.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I think as said above, has she traveled before, has anyone else besides your wife traveled before?

I am thinking they know, my MIL just got a Visa at her first interview and then two days later my Sister in-law got a teacher exchange work visa to come here, just happened that sister in-law got an offer when we were helping Mother in-law fill out form on line. We did help mom establish the strong ties paperwork by telling her what to get but they never asked for it.

But keep in mind my wife worked abroad twice before coming here and return to Philippines, three of her issters did the same, a brother inlaw is a seaman and another works in Saudi as a mechanic. they all always returned as they were supposed to, I am betting the USG has all of that information or can get it if they want.

Maybe she should make a couple of trip to a couple of other countries over the next year or so and return on time. To show she has traveled and do things properly to show she is not an over stay risk.

I thought that in the Caribbean they do not need a visa to travel to other islands. Look at going to Trinidad and coming back home. It depends on the island. I know that in those that belong to CARICOM and those that are part of the British Commonwealth there is no visa requirements and we are free to travel.
