Hi guys

I had my biometrics appointment on 5th August, i've checked my status on the USCIS and it still says 'Received biometrics fee'

Does anyone know how long it takes for it to change to the next step? Whatever that is. I think it's 'ready for interview to be scheduled'?

If anyone is on a similar timeline as me, it would be great to hear from you and if your status has changed at all.

The next status update with either be "ready to be scheduled for interview" "RFE" "RFIE" or "approved" any of those 4 status can appears... When? Within a week, within a month, within a year... There is no set time frame from when a status is meant to change... If you interview gets waived it will stay at "fingerprint fee recieved" until it's approved which can be Anwhere from a few months to a year... "Ready to be scheduled for interview" typically happens within 2months of your biometrics if interview is going to happen and a RFE or RFIE can happen anytime before you interview

It varies from case to case, and from office to office. Some are good at updating, some are utterly hopeless. Check my signature and timeline. I filed for AOS November 2nd 2015. Got an RFE on the 27th November, and until a week or so ago, that was the last update despite numerous calls to USCIS and even after getting my Congressman involved. I actually had TWO RFE's one last November and another in May this year. Both were replied to, neither occasion was my case status updated to acknowledge receipt. The first update since the RFE last November was in August this year when it changed to "New Card Being Produced". Then there was multiple updates following that - "Case Approved", "Card has been mailed", "Card has been delivered".

There doesn't appear to be any consistency with USCIS, and that includes applying their own rules when adjudicating cases...

Thank you for your replies,

ChasUno, do you remember if your status changed online regarding your EAD and AP? Or did they just arrive in the mail?

It's a shame that AOS takes so long but congrats on getting yours approved!!

Thank you, it seemed as if I was in a no-mans land for months, so I'm just glad to finally get to the end with approval and to have the green card in my hand.

With regards to my EAD and AP online statuses, yes, they changed when they were approved, which for me was back in January. Remember that when you file for AOS, if you file concurrently for EAD and AP as well, then you have three separate applications with USCIS with three separate receipt numbers. My EAD and AP receipt numbers for my I-131 and I-765 were updated shortly before I received the combo card last January. My I-485 (AOS) is the one that wasn't updated since the first RFE was issued in November 2015 until I was finally approved in August 2016. Until I got the "New Card Is Being Produced" email/ text/ update, I had heard nothing from the USCIS except through my Congressman's liaison for over 8 months.

Hope this information helps!
