Queens, NY imam and his assistant were both shot by a lone gunman on Saturday as they left prayer services at the Al-Furqan Jame Masjid Mosque in Ozone Park.

The New York Daily News reported that both men were shot in the head at around 1:50 p.m. in broad daylight. Police have not released the victims’ names, only reported that one man is dead and the other is seriously injured.

Outside the mosque a group of congregants gathered to grieve and commiserate.

“That’s not what America is about,” said resident Khairul Islam to the Daily News. “We blame Donald Trump for this…Trump and his drama has created Islamophobia.”

I have some suspicions about this, but we'll see what the police uncover. This is a well done sketch, so someone has to know who this guy is.

That's a ridiculous statement from someone claiming to be so middle of the road. 60 Muslims died at World Trade Center including a young Muslim police officer that rushed toward the burning buildings. And you know very well that Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs were attacked and even killed following 9/11 because of racial hatred. There were a plethora of communities speaking out against hate and many more that feared for their lives because of that hatred.

Were you a part of a community speaking out against hate that day? Did you get yourself on tv, so that you would be noticed carefully, just in case someone years later wouldn't accuse you of not doing enough, or so that politicians and people who can't bother to do their research couldn't spew whatever they want without thought?
