Folks,

My wife went through the process of getting the green card. She had her medical, we submitted the papers. 1-485. She received her combo card and we are still waiting on the interview for the 2 year temp green card. In October it will be one year since she's here in the USA.

Now my question is this. She thinks she will need a second medical and shots before going if after October. I font think so. Will she need a second medical exam?

Thanks

Hi,

As long as the first medical exam was done within 2 years previous of the date when you FILED the I-485 you do not need a second medical exam. I'm not sure if every interviewer does things the same way but when we went for our interview they asked us questions that we had already answered on the I-485 when we filed. I think they were checking that we answered the same as when we filed and we did, with the exception that since the time we had file we had a baby. The interviewer asked for his birth certificate, documented it and that was the end. She said "with his birth certificate you're all set" so I don't know if that means she would have asked us more questions if we didn't have a child together. But, in regards to the medical exam, there is nothing else you need to do there.

They might ask if the interview is after 1 year from the previous medical. I saw someone from the uk recently that had to wait a long time for the interview and on the day the officer gave her a rfe for a new medical. It will depend on the officer, though. I'd wait it out and see if they ask, if not, better.

Good luck

She may or may not. I personally would not get a new exam unless asked first. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/555299-medical-will-expire-before-the-aos-interview/?p=7703568

It is within ONE year of filing for AOS, not two.

My wife's interview was more than 1 year after the medical exam and they didn't request another one.

Sorry, that's what I meant. I had 2 years on my mind because we filed I-751 for removal of conditions today :) Honestly, everyone I know complains so much about everything but it hasn't been tough for us at all. The only thing we hated was the 9 months we waited to get our petition approved. The interviews have been nothing like people have said, so I don't know if we just got lucky or if it has to do with the area, or maybe things have changed...I don't know.
