London sends a letter of instruction to the beneficiary when they receive the case from NVC. It is not taken to the interview. Prior to May this year, London sent a second letter assigning an interview date. That appointment letter was shown to the outside line organizers. That is no longer received or needed.

What i'm saying is that the instructions letter was asked for at numerous points during my trip to the embassy. Perhaps they just wanted it to get the LND number off and something else could have substituted it as it seems other experiences it hasn't been asked for.

The usvisa-info website does state:

You have successfully scheduled your appointment and paid the K Visa application fee. Here are the details of your transaction.

You must print this instruction page and bring it with you to your consular interview, along with the letter you received from the Consular Section.

We are talking about different things. The instruction letter received via Royal Mail to say the case has reached London (packet 3) and a website link for how to apply for the visa is not needed at the interview. You are talking about the online scheduling confirmation that is printed at the time of picking an appointment which should be taken to the interview.

Just as an update for anyone else in this situation: Interview was today and he still had not received the notice from the embassy but was never asked for it, only for the scheduling confirmation that he printed himself. Thanks for the answers everyone!
