So my fiance had his interview yesterday and everything was going good. Great information and supporting documents. Very confident in his answers...until the bombshell.

She asked him were is your engagement party pictures? He gave her the engagement picture his friend took of us. He surprised me in the airport. She said no where is your engagement party? He said we didn't have a party. I surprised her and then later that night we went to have dinner with family friends. Here is the picture of that. She said no.

Then she asked what did your fiance study in college? I don't remember providing this information to begin with. But my fiance and I had a discussion a few months ago about it. So he told the CO I don't remember what it's called but I know it's about Healthcare in hospitals. She didn't say anything.

This whole time she never made eye contact with him. And never greeted herself (still have no idea what her name was).

Then the crazy question: what was your fiances ex boyfriend name? Umm what...so my fiance said her last relationship before me was over 8 years ago. I honestly don't remember his name.

So she says I'm confused and I need more information. Take these papers and wait 60 days. Good day....

We still don't know what happened. Why was she fixated on my past relationship (mind you I'm American and my ex is American. How is that even relevant to this???)

He was beyond devastated when he had to tell me. And I was in complete shock. So I was trying to research what exactly is our status.

One letter says 221g which reflects what CEAC says about AP. But the other letter says return to uscis. So is it denied? She never said those words at all in the interview. Only that she needs more information. Are we on hold in AP? I'm so confused...

Can anyone shed some light on this really crappy twisted situation...how can someone get away with this?! This will really impact our life and plans we had...

It is odd that the paper he got says both AP and denied, but considering what the CO said, it looks more like AP (additional checks), not a denial.

The question about your ex was not because they thought you had helped another immigrate, but to find out how much your current fiance knows about your life; many expect that in a bonafide relationship, the couple talks about their history, such as names of exes and why they broke up, name of college and courses studied etc.

so, they asked my husband in first interview "What is the color of the rug in her bedroom?"

and the color of my house

what books did i read

God, my dad and mom were married over 50 years and my dad can't tell you what books my mom read as my mom was an English teacher and dad an Iroquois ironworker and not interested in american books

What gets me is "the embassy CO has no idea of the correct answers to any of these" no one never sent me a questionaire about the color of my house or my carpet or books i liked

AP ??? lets hope it doesn't go back to US

if that happens, you need to forget the k1 and marry as we had to do

going back to the US a K1 is never looked at and allowed to die

now, marrying in Morroc takes anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks so if you decide to do this

get in touch with me and i send you the instructions and some tips on how to cut down the time for processing the marriage application

Marriage is our of yhe question for the moment. Plane tickets from Alaska to there is extremely high, I can't afford to take 1 month off of my jobs unless I want to lose them, I'm a single mother who also takes care of a housebound parent. I don't have the freedom like some others do. But thank you for the suggestion

Hi Nikkito,

So my husband also got a 221g from his interview however the paper he got specifically listed the paperwork/evidence/additional action items the CO wanted from my husband and I it was in both English and Arabic. I knew from being on this forum and the facebook group that a 221g - means our case would stay at the consulate for just 2-3 days before being sent back if we didn't get the information they wanted within that time frame.

The fact the paperwork does not have specific actionable items and says the case is being sent back is in my opinion a denial. I highly recommend you contacting an immigration attorney and seeing what they say.

Contact your senator's office to request clarification on whether your case is in AP (as in waiting for more info from you)
or if it has been returned or is going to be returned, have him request the diplomatic pouch number if they say it was returned.
This number is not useful for anything except you can be assured that it has been returned.

Forget a lawyer that costs money and he can't do more than the senator's aid.

IF it has been returned it will be purposely expired by USCIS and that is the end of the K1.
Your only other option is to marry him there and file a I-130 for a CR1. That's it.

A very slim chance is ( depending on what the clarification request answer is) to quickly request a second interview

while the case is still at the embassy. This has to happen within a couple days so get on it first thing on Monday.
You can email or leave a voicemail today and then have to sign a privacy release form, fax it or check if it can be

submitted on your senator's web site. Follow up with a phone call Monday and tell them exactly what you want.
YOU steer the ship, not them.
1. Clarify status.
2. Request second interview.

If another interview (with more evidence) is not granted you file a spousal petition after marrying.

Study the requirements and adjust your leave time accordingly or
take a big chance on being refused with another K1, that is a 50/50 chance you take.

I really don't want to make this, worse for you and I'm sorry if this is hard to hear. They are sending it back to USCIS. Your best bet is to go there and get married. If you have friends and family that support your relationship maybe they can help you and your children go to Morocco. I am six years into this, a denied K1, tried to get answers from Consulate, USCIS, My Senator. I still to this day do not know why they sent our petition back to uscis, I can only guess, all they would ever tell me is it is under review. Two years later, Even when I asked for the K1 to be withdrawn as a formality I still got a vague letter saying the K1 was now expired and no explanation. They will not tell you. I can tell you this, they question the validity of your relationship, maybe not on your end but his. For whatever reason. Think of any red flags they might question. I knew ours and we took a risk. The K1 is not as strong because you have no legal rights so they can deny for subjective reasons. They are testing your relationship to see if he will stay after this denial. I promise you the best decision you can make for your sanity and for the fastest strongest case is to go there, get married. I'm sorry. I really am, trust me I lived this nightmare. I too am a single mom of two girls. Feel free to message me. I'm sorry :'(

I appreciate your heartfelt answers and suggestions. It's very disappointing to know they can do this for any reason when the evidence speaks for itself. At this rate they might as well ask people why is the sky blue and deny them for that too...

As a backup plan yes I intend to go there after I hear final word that the case has been closed or expired or whatever there lingo is and marry and file for cr1.

Saha - if you would be so kind and tell me the whole process or as much as you can about the process of marriage in morocco.

I had my fiance research information and he was told that the marriage certificate must be obtained from the city he was born in...is that accurate? It would be easier for us to have it in Marrakech or casablanca but if this is actually true then waiting around in taza will make it slower :( there not the fastest in anything there.

How long did your paperwork/process take to receive your marriage certificate?

What kind of tips or tricks do you have to make this as smooth as possible - from filing and submitting bonefide relationships to finances?

Should I plan also to go there for his interview even though I can't enter...I'm worried that this situation will play out again since a handful of people I'm following has also been denied cr1.

My biggest fear is I would marry the love of my life and never be able to bring him home ??

You mention a few things that make me wonder.

Presumably you did not meet in the US?

Where did you meet, how long have you been together.

My biggest fear is I would marry the love of my life and never be able to bring him home ??

I've read accounts of people who had their significant other take their passport into the consulate with them to show the CO that they were there. There's a chance the CO could call you in for part of the interview, or at least they'd see that you cared enough to be there, despite not being able to go into the consulate.

Whose CR-1's were denied (recently)?

Also, as long as your intended hasn't committed any terrible crimes, lied on an application, or was/is a user of hard substances/drugs, and you continue to compile proof of a bonafide relationship, you will be able to bring him home...it just might take a few petitions/tries, but don't ever give up!

There is no need to wait until you receive the expiration letter, you can proceed now with marrying and filing.

Waiting for the official letter wastes another 6+ months and is totally unnecessary.
