I am asking for help for a friend who's been married with an asylum immigrant. They divorced while their papers were pending (filed everything, just waiting on a response or interview), my friend got married after that with a US citizen and now she is waiting for the interview in a few weeks. After she got divorced, she sent a letter asking USCIS to remove her from processing the asylum file, she got a response saying that they received the request, but she never got an answer to let her know if she did ever get removed from the process. Now she is worried that she is going to the interview and they are going to say they can't adjust her status because she is still pending on the previous file. Can anybody give any advice from experience or tell me is she should be worried or not? She attached a copy of the received request letter to her package, do you think that she will have issues? If you need more info let me know. Thank you in advance.

Was the asylum claim frivolous?

Was the asylum claim frivolous?

He claimed asylum on the base of political reasons, she met him in US after he got here.Their marriage was legitimate, he cheated on her but she can't prove it officially. I think he is still pending for asylum, even though they divorced 2 years ago. It's just that none of them can call and ask USCIS because they don't give that kind of information to asylum petitioners. Does it answer your question? Any insight? Thank you.

He is from Moldova, came here on the basis of asylum. He met her here, she was a J1 student. Her visa expired while they were together and they applied together for asylum - she can get the same status as the wife of the asylum petitioner. He cheated on her, so she divorced him, put in the request to be withdrawn from the asylum petition and she received a response saying USCIS received the letter and no more info than that. She met her actual husband, a US citizen, and she applied for AOS and now she is worried, before the interview, that she maybe was not withdrawn from the petition. Her work permit expires this August, a few days before the interview.
