Just planning ahead while we wait for the I-130 approval and interview date. Will I be permitted to accompany my wife and step-son to the interview in Manila, Philippines? I'd like to do so if they will allow it.

Thanks!

Doug

Of course, you could join your spouse & stepson on their interview schedule to USE in Manila.

Goodluck!

"A spouse of a U.S. citizen is considered an immediate relative (IR) and is immediately eligible to apply for an immigrant visa under the IR category. The Filipino spouse must be the beneficiary of an I-130 petition approved by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This petition must be filed at the USCIS office that has jurisdiction over the petitioner's (American spouse) place of residence. On a case-to-case basis, a U.S. citizen who resides in the Philippines may be allowed to file the 1-130 petition at the immigration services office at the U.S. Embassy in Manila. However, the petitioner must be domiciled or residing in the United States at the time the Filipino spouse has a visa interview. NOTE: Active-duty U.S. military personnel and other U.S Government personnel are considered domiciled in the United States while serving overseas."

That sounds as if the USC has to "live" in the US, but could be in the Phillipines as a tourist, doesn't it?

And all of this relates to the question of being allowed to attend an interview...how?

it seems domicile means permanent residency, not necessarily being physically in the US once interview takes place.

my husband and i would also like to be together during the interview - for moral support and gosh, just to be together like how married couples should be! best to call the embassy to ask?
