Hi everyone!

I would really appreciate if someone that have already been through the process can help me with this.

Im from Argentina, my finace is from the US. We applied for a K1 visa. It had been already aproved by USCIS and NVC so now papers are on their way to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

One of the things they require in the interview is POLICE REPORTS from your country and any country you have lived more than 6 months.

I lived in the US for 2 years with a J1 visa (since I didnt have a temporary residence idk if that count as "living" in the US or not), if it counts as "living", for what I checked online the only way to get a police report is through the FBI ????????? and it last from 4 to 6 weeks ???? Does anyone know if I can get that report at the police station or somewhere else that It doesnt last that long?

Thak you very much,

Lucia

Both answers above are correct. You only need the one from the RNR http://www.dnrec.jus.gov.ar/, remember to request it with "exception to article 51", as it allows them to search for any criminal records throughout the country, not just in your province. You will have to sign an authorization to that effect.

Thank you very much for your answers!! I would like to know if you have any official goverment website that says that because as far as I checked in the website they send you to the FBI website :/ Im 100% they know everything about me so far but i dont wanna risk the interview and not have the police certificate from the US.

As previously indicated, you do not need a police certificate for the US if you lived here. You only need the one for Argentina.

Here you go, page 8 of the packet 3

  • 2 years later...

I just read that my fiancé needs police reports from all places he has lived for more than 6 months from the age of 16.  Problem is that he is 72 and worked as a pilot all over the world.  Is there some sort of international report we can get that would be sufficient for him to go with me to the U.S.?  Or maybe 20 or 30 years of reports may be enough?
