I am dealing with a case from the middle east as well. We have been shown no discrimination from USCIS or anyone else. We received our NOA2 fairly quickly. Also, they sent our case to the NVC within 2 weeks and had our case number. The only issue I've had is actually from Saudi Arabia side. The embassy has yet to give us our interview and our petition expires in 2 and a half weeks.

tnx dude

I'm not sure if they impose discrimination against people from Saudi Arabia. It seems that Americans are good with you guys.

I hope you will never experience discrimination in America.

Wish you the best

It's important to understand that "equal" in terms of anything you want to talk about, and "fair", "unfair" or "unfair because of discrimination" are not the same thing. Different (unequal) outcomes are often both fair and nondiscriminatory. There can be multiple legitimate reasons why cases take unequal amounts of time to complete. There is no promise or goal, of first in/first out at USCIS offices, precisely BECAUSE doing so would unfairly penalize those whose cases have no complications, or to make people with cases in an office that is not very busy, wait until cases are completed in offices that are temporarily overloaded with work.

FYI, a "common name" is often the reason for delays, due to the need to rule out that you are not THAT John, Jim or Mohamed.

You are right

When I submitted an inquiry about why my case is out of normal processing time in the USCIS website, they replied me that the delay is not related to your case.

Here is the complete answer from USCIS:

"Due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in the order received and in a timely and efficient manner. We regret any inconvenience that results from delays in processing."

Now, here is the problem: the phrase "in the order received" is obviously a lie! You only need to check the timeline for Philadelphia!

I don't think there is any discrimination.

I came here on a CR1 Visa and my GC took 8 months to arrive by mail, delays happen all the time. Applying for many jobs and not hearing back from any of them doesn't make it discrimination, I am sure they found someone who is a better fit to the job. I think you are being unreal or your expectation are kinda unreal about 'living the dream'.

I have a muslim name and I am a muslim. It took me a while to get a job and I am sure its not about my name or my beliefs or nationality. All my coworkers know that I am muslim, the majority are even Trump supporters but none of them care about that, one of them invites me often to his house on the weekend and we go on boat rides as families with our wives.

I am here since 2 years almost and I've seen everyday that America never violate any of your rights, it's equal to everyone. If you are not happy in America then go back to Iran, it's simple as that.

Well that's your opinion and experience. I don't think you're an Iranian! I was talking about Iranians, not other nationalities!

I will go back to my country ONLY if I want to and that's totally my business!

If you had positive experience, it does not mean that it applies to everyone. I have some Muslim friends here, and ALL of them declare that they are receiving discrimination once in a while!

Your name is Mohammad and you say you are not muslim, what are you then? Shiite?

You don't even know the simplest things about Islamic matters. My family had chosen this name for me. You need to know that in your religion, you can not claim that you're not a Muslim! The penalty for apostasy is DEATH!!!

Also, In Iran you can not change your name from Mohammad to another name. I tried once and I got denied!

No offense but if this is the attitude you have when applying for jobs, I understand why you haven't gotten any offers yet...

I'm a white, blonde woman from Sweden (a VWP country) and our case was stuck more than eight months at NVC, compared to the usual three month NVC processing time. There was another Swedish woman on here who were stuck at NVC close to eight months, plus two other Swedes who waited close to a year to get their green cards. So with your logic, that means US immigrations must be discriminating against Swedish women, right?!?!

Every case is different and processing times are different. Just because your case is taking longer than the "standard" doesn't mean it's anything against you personally. Plenty of people wait six months or longer to get their green cards.

Tnx for your reply and your time

What kind of attitude you exactly mean? They started being rude to me and I answered them in their own language, and even better and more courteously!

No any employer can guess how your attitude is before they talk to you! They never called me! Non on them! Also, My resume is not bad at all with a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience!

Today I applied for a job, and they rejected me in less than 4 minutes. How can they have the time to review my resume in less than 4 minutes and email me right away?

This is one of the evidence about the discrimination:

Hellow friends:

I came from Iran using a k1 visa, and I am waiting for my green card for 8 months so far. My local office is Philadelphia. I called USCIS more than 10 times and they only say we can't guarantee when they will work on your case.

I checked the Philadelphia local office AOS timeline and I noticed that everyone gets their approval in 2 to 3 months. In some cases, 4 or 5 months.

Is there anyone else here waiting such a long time for the AOS?

Do you think it's a good idea to sue the USCIS at the federal court?

Furthermore, I have some Iranian friends from VJ who are waiting for the NOA1 for the visa process for 6 months. Also, another friend of mine, is waiting for work permit for almost 6 months.

This is blatant discrimination against Iranians!

The funny thing is that, no body gives me a job! I already applied for more than 80 jobs in 9 months! Non of them ever called me, even for warehouse and general working jobs, because my legal name is Mohammad and I'm an Iranian, although I'm not a Muslim!

I believe that America is the number 1 in human rights violations. That's what I'm experiencing everyday!

I wished my wife was inclined to move to a better country.

So exactly in what way are you being discriminated against?

All I see is a normal case of "I'm looking at other's timelines and I'm freaking out". Stop comparing your case to others. There will always be cases moving faster or slower than yours. There will always be timelines suggesting something. Did you check the USCIS timeline or VJ?

When I started the process all information I found said the whole process would take 6 months. It took 9 before I could finally come to the US. Don't focus so much on how long it is taking, you'll get there eventually.

Yes, as long as there are people claiming to be Muslims who are raping and murdering people people from Muslim countries will be more heavily scrutinized. Just like people on here from high fraud countries will be more heavily scrutinized. It's just the way it is because USCIS are trying to protect USA. It has nothing to do with discrimination.

I think you mean Native Americans. Indians are from India. The Native Americans were wrongly called Indians because the people who "discovered" America thought that had come to India.

Thx for your time

You are right! But that's how they currently call them, wrong or right!

You feel discrimination...Free advice Take a flight back home ... USCIS will and should take as long as it wants to do a background check on people coming from hostile countries like the other member said.
