My fiance ordered his police certificate back in March and last week at his medical they informed him that the form had been updated since March and that he would need a new one. They told him to send it to them when he got it and that they would send his medical results to the consulate at that time.

He just applied online yesterday and is having it sent directly to Knightsbridge as well as to his house. He did not pay for the quick turn around because as of yesterday morning when he applied, his interview was not until September.

As luck should have it, we were able to switch our interview to August 23rd (12 days from now)!! Should we be worried that the police certificate will not make it to Knightsbridge in time for them to send his medical results to the consulate? I know that they say it takes 7-10 days for them to send it, but I am afraid we are cutting it super close!

Any advice would be appreciated!

The police certificate is valid for one year. I don't know why they wouldn't accept the old one at the embassy with allowances for either in the months following a switch. You can always change your interview again.

I know, so annoying. We are hoping not to have to switch the interview as the next availability is at the end of September, but I guess I will have to see what happens.

Cutting it close. If the medical results aren't at the embassy when you interview it will be declined.

Yep thats exactly why we are worried... I think he is going to call customer service at ACRO and see if we can switch to the quick turn around so that everything is in by the 23rd. We are also going to call knightsbridge and tell them the situation to see what they say.

If things aren't in, your visa will be paused until they arrive. Then they will carry on and issue it. Argue with Knightsbridge that your police certificate is valid for one year according to the embassy and they should accept it as well and send your medical report.

Ugh well I just figured out what went wrong. Apparently you can get a police check OR a police certificate from ACRO which are not the same thing... In the past when he had an H2b visa he needed to have a police check which is what he applied for back in March thinking that was what he needed for his K1 when actually it was the certificate he needs (the one job he had to do! lol)

In any event he has now applied for the certificate and is going to ring them to see if he can pay the difference for them to switch his application to the 2 day processing.

Hypothetically if he were to show up to the interview and the consulate had not received his medical results from Knightsbridge, would they just go wait to issue his visa until they got what they needed? Or would he have to go back for a second interview. Obviously if it gets to the day before and they don't have everything we will just switch the interview date, but I'm just curious.

There will be no second interview. They will say your visa is approved pending medical results. When the results arrive, they will carry on.

When they think something is going to take awhile (like if he needed a new affidavit of support from America) they would hand back his passport as well and tell him to ring the courier to pick up his passport and affidavit when he gets it. But with the medical coming straight from Knightsbridge, emphasize "it should be to you tomorrow" so they keep the passport. They just don't hang on to people's passports if they think it's going to be two weeks or something.

Also follow up with Knightsbridge on phone as soon as you know the police certificate arrived. They can courier to embassy same day if they get on it instead of letting it sit around.

Well that is all very good information... thank you!

Assuming ACRO can switch his certificate to 2 day processing and Knightsbridge does the courier, it sounds like everything will be at the embassy by late next week anyway. Good to know that it wouldn't be the end of the world if something delays either of those things though!

Assuming Knightsbridge does the courier???

The courier comes by Knightsbridge every single day to do a pick up for the embassy. All medicals go by courier. It's only a question of when the staff check your police certificate and put it in the box for pickup.

If you're really worried, not that you need to be, and since this is a K-1, you could always move your interview to a later date to buy some extra time.

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska
