It says ".....must be drawn from a US bank" but can be issued by anyone as long as it's withdrawn from US banks. For ex, US Postal Service issues money order and it's not a bank but its drwan from a US bank.

Major banks overseas issue money order in US dollars drawn from a US bank they are linked with. Ask few banks over there.

Are you stating that being a US citizen living abroad, you haven't maintained a US bank account?

no, I have. but I don't see how that helps me here.

Ask a relative to get the money order for you.

that seems a bit arduous. it would be easier to just send the packet to my family, have them add the money order then send it on its way. but there aught to be another method.

Get checks from your us bank and send one in with your packet?

Hop on the plane, get a money order (bank or post office) and mail the packet in?

Your suggestion is to fly to america, get a money order and mail the packet? Spending over $1000 to get a money order doesn't seem very reasonable.

I am in Saudi Arabia, working on the i-130 for my wife. There is no mail delivery here, if you want to receive things you need a PO box. I can get one if it's necessary . Im doing the G-1145. I've seen some i-130 checklists include a self-address first class envelope, but I'm unclear about what they need to send us. Is it important to receive the physical NOA1s? I'm not finding much information on this.

I assume you have a mail delivery address in the USA. If so, you can have someone scan and email you a copy of NOA1 from there. In my past experience, I never needed a physical copy of NOA1. But the information on it is good to have if these don't happen in a timely manner.

My issue is that I'm not even seeing where I would write my the address that I wish them to send me documents. If they use my physical address it will never arrive anywhere, and I don't want to be sitting around waiting.

To reiterate:

  • Will they try to send things to my address (The address I put entered into the i-130?)
  • I'm not seeing anywhere asking for my mailing address.

Does it not matter? Will they alert me electronically regarding RFEs?

1] yes the NOA1 and 2, and RFEs

2] no. You need the physical RFE.
