AOS Interview Waiver after k1, 6 months have already gone by

My wife entered on a K1 last summer and we filed for AOS in September. Shortly thereafter, we receive a RFE, and they received it November 12. At the end of January, we received the notice of potential interview waiver case, saying it would take another six months. It is now August, and we haven't heard anything since receiving the letter. Our case status still says "On November 12, we received your response to our request for evidence". I've read elsewhere on Visajourney that they often take longer than 6 months, I'm just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat after receiving the letter in December or January. Thank you!
