Hello, All

I cant schedule my interview. It was too late for me when I realize the discrepancy on my BC and other forms submitted. The name of my mom is different from my BC to the forms we submit. Will this be a problem? Im worried about this. Thanks!

Thread is moved from the K-1 Process forum to the Philippines regional subforum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Take what you have with you to the interview and explain it to the CO. The Embassy knows that Filipino records are rot with errors. The worse that can happen is you get a 221(g) and your delayed a few weeks or months while you fix what is needed. No harm done. It would be a good time now to fix the BC for your mother, who knows you you might have the new one in time for the interview.

omg, glad to have read your post. I have the same situation and I just realized it. My mom go by Ma. Theresa all her life until at 30, after she had all us {me and my sibs} when she tried to get a passport and her birth certificate [unbelievable right?] she found out her name in her birth certificate is Maria Teresa. Since then she made us use her correct name spelling, so all that we fill out since then are like that. School records are in her correct name, we never encounter a problem with our BC. But now that you posted this, I just got my cenomar last week from SM service center, it took 1 month. Now I have to get a new one.

Is your problem like mine too? Just a different spelling?

USEM will send you an email that will have a 221g attached with instructions for completing this problem. Be sure to look for it and sometimes it lands in your spam folder so check there.

Read it carefully and follow it as written. They pay for the return.

You think it will be best for me to bring two cenomars? or just one? because I just reviewed our biographic info and I wrote my mom's correct spelling name, different from my BC. Should I also produce an affidavit of one and the same person?

Your wasting your time getting an affidavit as the CO will not accept it. It has to be either right and you pass or it's wrong you have to do it just the same. So why not get going on getting it corrected before the interview and avoid the hassle that a 221(g) and delay will give you.

Yup, I'm ordering a new cenomar online, more expensive but faster. I thought to be prepared that I might need an affidavit too, but thanks for clearing that up, I won't get that anymore. So I will be giving them the Cenomar with my mom's name as it appears on my birth certificates. thank you
