Scheduling an Embassy Interview

Hello,

I need some quick help (suggestions) on what to do. First of all I want to thank everyone who has helped me in the past answering my questions and keeping my head above water. I've just completed my DS160, submitted it, paid the fee for the appointment. This at the Embassy in Vientiane, Laos. I'm asking for much but here is my questions:

1. The "first available" appointment date is on October 21, thats a little two months away, can I call in and try to get a interview date sooner? I have the options of choosing but I don't want to wait if its only going to cause more delays, should I just go ahead and pick the 21st and call in and see if they have any openings before that date or should I just swallow the pill and do it on the 21st. I'm afraid if I wait until tomorrow the 3 open slots will have already been taken up and I will have to push the interview to a later date. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences in trying to get a quicker appointment. I don't want to "expiate" the interview to get a quicker interview because the reasons I have are not valid according to ustraveldoc.com. They also say we can reschedule but for a later time only (wasn't sure if there was any way around this).

2. If I cannot get a sooner interview date, would I call the US Embassy in Laos, the USCIS or NVC to extend my NOA2. My NOA2 is valid only till mid October.
