Waiting for packet in the mail for SSN??

Hi all,

My fiance and I would like to know if there is a packet coming in the mail for his SSN. He is here on a K-1 visa and our POE was Aug. 2 and each website I looked at says to get an I-94. So, I went to the website to retrieve it and it came up "Not found." I then called my local Deferred Inspection Site, thinking they may have made a mistake entering his information. The gentleman told me immigrants worked a bit differently and that they are sending me a packet in the mail and to wait for that.

How long does the packet usually take to get here?

What's in the packet?

And will I still have to fill out the SS-5 form?

If the packet does not arrive or I want to check on its status, who would I call?

I don't think K1s get a packet in the mail, I think he's referring to CR1s. We went online printed the I-94 and went to the Social Security office to apply for his card. He received it within one week. Make sure you are typing in everything correctly.

Did you try all caps? The link I posted in my previous comment was a thread about others who had trouble printing their I-94 and ways they fixed it. Yes, they will ask for it at the SS office. You may have to wait a couple days and try again. If not, contact them. Sorry you're having trouble

Yes, thank you for the link and I tried all the different ways the people on the thread were able to do it, no luck. I'll call up the Deferred Office again and tell them I need it, hopefully they won't tell me no again.

Woohoo! I called up the Deferred Office and the same gentlemen answered again and tried to tell me again that he wouldn't have an I-94 but I had him double check for me. The passport number requires the P and NO SPACES between the P and the numbers. Geez that thing is picky!
