I had my Titres test done. It was covered with Alberta health care and I didn't have to pay. If you are still on your Provincial plan, it should be covered for you.

Hi

I'm 35 and didn't have records of my immunizations. I disussed it with my Doctor about getting titres done and she told me that it would not be harmful to just get the shots again one way or the other, which are free of charge through the government. (titres may come out of your own pocket as I've seen some people here charged for them)

As for the medical required for immigration ... get a receipt and if you have a medical plan through work .. submit it to them ... some insurance companies are re-imbursing for these costs. (Sunlife did it for I think Jersey Girl)

I'm under the age for influenza shot but my son had to get twinrix jr for hep a and b which is a series of three shots (he received his first one, then a month later a second one and then 6 months later the third one which still yet has to occur) which was re-imbursed by my insurance company 80% (he's 8 yrs old).

I hope this info is helpful :)

Those questions depend onthe DR i would think. Some Dr's only require 1 pasport, pics, some more. So to answer ur question better, one would need to know which Dr u are going to see.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

....or better yet ... ask your doctor. Don't take our word on what your doctor will want to have done.

The blood test is not a fasting one. It's for HIV and syphilis rather then nutrient counts like iron. They will suck one vial for each test.

Since you are in Calgary, the doctor (who is at the Hummingbird clinic on Sirocco Drive) requires 3 passport style pictures. So, yes, it's true.

so....

my doctor gave me a 'script for the tetanus shot....but I could not get it filled here in Nowhere, SK...lol. I phoned public health and they are giving me all of the shots I need for my age group. It won't cost a thing and I will then have a record of it for the Doctor. Wow, I could not believe how they were willing to help me right away.

check with your local public health to see if you can get the shots and they you will have a record for the doctor and anyone else that requires it.

my panel dr appt is on the 12th april....

I take it back: it's a lie. Calgary doctor requires 2 pix. VAN doctor wants 3. I always forget this part!

Excellent!

BTW: is Nowhere, SK anywhere near East Elbow Junction, SK? One of my grade school teacher's used to kid us about being from there.

lmao....there is an Elbow, Eyebrow, Climax....just to name a few fun places in Sask. I really don't know if there is a Nowhere on the map...but from where I sit I can see the middle of Nowhere really well.

Haha.

I have only been to Saskatchewan once. I drove to Moosejaw and stayed at Temple Gardens. I really enjoyed it. It was a nice town, the Tunnels were cool and I enjoyed some spa services at the hotel.

OK...had my shots done today...but the MMR cost me $23 and the tetanus was free. There were no questions asked...no proof of anything required and they gave me a record of my immunization.

So...... lets hope that is a good sign of things to come!!!

Have a good one!
