i sent my I-129F in July 28 and on August 1 my fiancé got his international passport. He's from Ukraine so there are different ways to spell his name in English that would be phonetically correct. unfortunately I used a different spelling than they used on his passport. I used: Denis Stoyko and his passport has Denys Stoiko :/ How big of a problem will this be and at what point should I correct it?

Maybe ask USCIS and explain how you explained it here.

My problem is even bigger and we realized it after we got the NOA2 approval. They don't have birth certificates here and based off his ID they go by fathers name then grandfathers name family name.

So on his i129f I have his first name and last name as his father name (which was on the ID) his passport has his first name then family name.

The person who set up my paperwork and does immigration work said its common in our country and the embassy will issue the visa based off what's on the passport it's not a big deal.

I think you still have time and a valid reasoning as to why it happened like this- it's a name spelling error I'm sure they can fix it for you now so you don't stress. Call them and tell them just how you explained it here . If thy can't change it- ask around on your embassy forum or ask the embassy directly about the spelling and how it will affect you guys.

Laci, how did you end up resolving the transliteration difference?

He went back to the passport office and explained the situation and got a new passport that matched what I had already written on the I-129 paperwork
